Satoshi, is that you? It seems that 50 Bitcoin moved for the first time since 2009, and the world is effervescent with guesses – it is Satoshi? This hoard of BTC has not been touched since being rewarded for mining block 3654 in 2009, but to be fair, there were several early miners on the Bitcoin network in 2009. When the transfer of funds was made, Bitcoin crashed in price, cutting about a grand from the worth of bitcoin from previous 24 hour highs. Professionals believe that blocks mined by Satoshi have a particular pattern in their nonces, called a Patoshi pattern - and these Bitcoin do not appear to have this pattern, meaning they did not originate from Satoshi’s stash.

What is even weirder, apparently Craig Wright (who has claimed to be Satoshi Takemoto or the inventor of Bitcoin), has denied moving the coins, although he once claimed to own this address in the past (and another 16,000 wallet addresses). Wright is currently in the midst of a lawsuit in the US, brought against him by the family of Dave Kleiman, an early Bitcoin pioneer and miner.

So who can it be behind the whale-like movement? Join Aviva Ounap, Host of Crypto and Blockchain Talk, and Ben Jessel of Forbes .com on this podcast as we look at what is happening behind this movement of 50 BTC, and the intrigue behind this movement of bitcoin.

Tribute: We dedicate this podcast to David Kleiman 1967 – 2013

Kleiman was the technical brains behind bitcoin, and if he was alive today, he would own half of a bitcoin cache mined by Nakamoto, worth about $10 billion USD.

Rest in peace, David.
